Staff
All of the staff in the Out of school club are employed to ensure that the children enjoy their time they spend with us. Most of the staff have a relevant qualification in caring for young children. All of our seasonal staff have previous experience of working with us and therefore know most of the children.
All staff, including part time staff and volunteers, are cleared by OfSTED to work with children. They go through rigorous checks with the Criminal Records Bureau and Social Services before they are allowed to work unsupervised with the children. Until the organisation receives confirmation by the CRB that all of these are complete no member of staff is allowed to work unsupervised with children within the organisation.
Staffing Ratios always exceed OfSTED requirements both in terms of numbers of staff and the qualifications of staff. Many of our staff have been with the organisation for many years and some have even been here since it opened back in 1990! A recent survey found that the staff have over 150 years of service at the nursery between them. This is so important in the continuity of the care we provide to the children and is a rarity in this environment.
Most of our staff have a first aid qualification, a Food and Hygiene qualification and training in child protection issues. All staff are expected to undertake training courses to develop new skills, and keep up with the changes in the field of early years care.
