Hours of Placement
We ask that you consider carefully the hours you will require when booking as we have a duty to maintain staffing ratios at all times, and this becomes difficult if children are here longer than the time recorded for them.
If you require extra hours from time to time or are going to be late collecting your child please telephone or ask so that we can accommodate the alteration of hours.
Holidays
Once your child has a placement their fees must be paid throughout the year with the exception of bank holidays and any nursery closure.
In case of serious illness or confinement in hospital, exceptions to normal payment agreements may be made.
Notice
One Months notice in writing is required if you wish to terminate your child’s placement. Alterations to placement may need less notice at the discretion of the Directors and may be done verbally.
Grant
What is funding?
Depending on your child’s age and your personal circumstances, you may be entitled to 15 or 30 hours of funded childcare during term time.
We offer Early Years funding for eligible children over 9 months old, 2-year-olds and 3-4 year olds. This is up to 30 hours for extended Entitlement, subject to space availability.
The Government only offers funded hours for 38 weeks of school term weeks. This equates to 570 hours a year for 15 hours, or 1,140 hours a year for 30 hours. At Smisby Day Nursery we are open 51 weeks of the year so we can stretch funding to suit the needs of working families and balance out your bills. So long as we meet the requirements of the County Council we will apply for as much funding as we can to support you s a family.
Who is eligible for funding?
Eligible working parents in England can receive 30 hours of free childcare a week for 38 weeks per year (1,140 hours total) for children aged 9 months to 4 years.
You, and any partner, must each expect to earn (on average) at least £167 per week. If you, or your partner, are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave, or you're unable to work because you are disabled or have caring responsibilities, you may still be eligible.
The upper income limit is an adjusted net income of less than £100,000 per year per parent.
While government funding supports the delivery of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), it does not cover the cost of meals, Health & Hygiene consumables or extracurricular activities.
At Smisby Day Nursery our provision is an all inclusive service that includes a daily charge that is called an Additional Service Charge (ASC). This charge is there to be all inclusive for children so they are treated the same and covers the cost of meals and snacks, drinks, consumables including wet wipes, creams and potions, medicines, health and hygiene essentials as well as additional extracurricular activities, trips and Forest School. Being all inclusive is our commitment to support every child’s development and enrich their lives equally for every child in the Nursery. It also allows parents to have a simplified pricing that has no hidden surprises.
This Additional Service Charge is voluntary but if you are considering opting out then please speak to the Nursery Manager or the Directors to find out what this means to you as a family and the support you will need to provide for your child.
Our extracurricular programme goes beyond the Early Years Foundation Stage provision and gives children additional learning experiences to broaden their horizons, support physical development and emotional regulation. Forest School sessions give children the opportunity to explore the outdoor world in a safe and structured environment and be creative. Cooking lessons are cultural, language, maths and sharing skills based that teaches them so much as part of a balanced day and helps them to understand where food comes from and realise what it takes to produce it. Trips to local cultural centres, woodland, and communities engage the children and create interest and learning opportunities. We love being central to our community and the lives of our parents. Regular events include parents days, sports days, "Daffodil Doddles" round the village and leavers parties all help the children to feel part of their community and the wider Nursery family.
