I started working in childcare when I was 16 and completed my level 2 Early Years Childcare and Education qualification whilst working for a Before and After School club, (This is where I first met Liz - little did I know she would be my supervisor 13 years later!). After 6 years of working at the Before and After School club I decided I needed a change.
I had always wanted to work with children /young adults with special needs, this is something that had always been close to home and my heart as I have a younger sister who has additional needs. I then went on to work as a Learning Support Assistant at Bladon House School , working with young adults within a supported living setting before settling for nearly 4 years at a Leonard Cheshire disability home working with adults with disabilities. I really loved this job, it gave me great job satisfaction, but in the back of my mind I desperately wanted to return to childcare and complete my Children’s and Young Peoples work force Diploma.
In January 2015 I started working at Smisby Day Nursery at Smizkids, which I love, and I look forward to going to work every day. I’m not sure many people can say that. I have great fun getting messy and being creative!
The staff and children at Smisby Day Nursery are fab, they instantly made me feel like a valued member of staff from day one.
When I’m not at work I can be found tinkering in the garage with my beloved classic mini or two. I share this passion with my partner of 7 years and we can often be found at classic car shows buying shiny bits for the cars. Then there are our two "fur babies" (dogs), Ruby and Norman, who enjoy taking us for long walks :)
