Hi everyone, I'm Abi!
I live in Gresley with my partner and child. Carl (my partner) and I have been together since 2016 and welcomed our son in 2021. I have been working within nurseries for over 10 years now, but have been around children all my life. This has been in a variety of roles working my way up from Early Years Educator up to Assistant Manager. I took a step back from Childcare when I had my son to focus on getting the support and diagnosis of Autism he needed. After being away from nurseries I realised how much I loved helping the next generation to grow and nurturing their minds.
From a young age I helped look after my neighbours twin daughters, one of which was diagnosed with a inoperable brain tumour at 9 months. I loved being a support with their growth and development and being there when we had the fabulous news to say she was in remission.
I love learning new things and keeping up to date with any new legislation or training and putting these new methods in to practice. If you see me around the nursery I more than likely will be covered in some sort of messy play with a smile on my face while acting like the biggest child there!
I am really looking forward to being a part of the Smisby family and helping develop not only the children but the staff. If you ever have any questions or need a ear then I am always open for a chat.
Ed: We have found evidence that Abi has friends in high places..... When she sent me her profile picture to use it was a much bigger picture..... She is friends with Noddy everyone! ;-)
